So here we go ! Dancelady enters her 11 official year as Dancelady !, but probably something like 35 years in total , teaching fitness classes and kids fitness sessions .
This curriculum year feels like we back to normal . This time last year we were still a little in restrictions and Covid systems in place. . Interestingly I am still coming across some children with some needs and requirements that have been magnified by Covid , class bubbles and home schooling effects . Simple things like confidence in groups , coping with stressful situations and learning to work with other groups of children .
Our first weeks back to school are also subject to unsettlement due to the death of the Queen Elizabeth 11 . During the time of the Queens Platinum in May 2022 .I created a Royal themed game ! which worked so well , the kids loved it !and asked to play it time and time again .
Although I had the initial ideas for the Royal activity , it was the kids that really went with the creativity of the game !.Its called the Queens Corgis !
One child is the Queen. All the other children are following the Queen in a line , they are the Corgis !. The Queen is walking her Corgis around Buckingham Place . When the music pays ( the National Anthem ) all of the Corgis run off in all different directions ! . The Queens Guards ( 2 other children ) chase the corgis ( like tag ) and return them to the royal kennels (a big mat ! ) the last corgi/child caught is the winner !!
This game was just “one of those moments ” that I have often seen over my years of working with kids ! . the kids adapted the game to include the Guards and the music .My job was simple to facilitate it, this is creativity at its best !
