Its the Famous Oxford Cambridge Boat Race this weekend. So try out these rowing inspired activities for all ages.
Crews Ages 7yrs upwards
Moving around the hall/room call out the desired boat crew the crew have to sit on the floor one behind each other legs straddled as if about to row. Call out Mens Pairs (2 boys together ) Womans Pairs (2 Girls together ) Mixed Pairs (1 boy.1 Girl ). 8s All girl crew 8s All boys 8s Mixed to catch them out call out Single Crew!. When you call out the boat crew the children have to sit down in the boat as quickly as possible with the correct number of crew. Last people down or not in the correct crew or number is out.
Boat themed Stretches/Pose All ages .
Using descriptive words such as Rocking, Straddle , Balance Stretching Forwards Slide Backwards etc . Create as many Rowing themed stretches , Poses as possible .

2 Teams/ crews of children (with as many or as little numbers of players you have )
Crews are sitting straddled one behind each other (as if in a rowing boat ) on a bench or in the same position on mats . Crews are Opposite each other For example below

The teams throw a ball between each other , Referee foul throws or moving off bench or mat. The ball is passed between teams for 30seconds/ 45 seconds untill the whistle is blown . The team holding the ball is the loser.

Rowing Circuits Ages 10yrs +
Rowing is a full body workout incorporating the muscles of the arms, legs , back & shoulders, chest and abs .
Arrange exercises in a big circle .Exercises to include Press ups, Sit ups , Plank , Squats , etc .
Exercise stations for 45 seconds.
